Wednesday April 7
$15.00 scale fish $1.44 catfish. Put out 4 more shrimp here. Had to take catfish in and get ice. Mr.T. came after bream. Calves got in my hibiscus, ate and broke them up, they've got to go. They can trade pastures with Destry. Ray’s mama called, said his Dady is in the hospital. He had a skin cancer cut off his face today. He should be home tomorrow. Didn't know he was going to need this done. Warm and sunny, need some rain. The lake is really going down, the locks must the open, it will mess up the fishing if it gets much lower.
Bream
The scale fish, mentioned almost daily in Myrtle’s journals, could be a number of different types of fish—basically anything other than catfish. In this case, she’s talking about bream—officially called bluegill.
