Lovely day, sunny, warm—not hot. Went to K. AM. Borrowed $100 from K. bank, paid cemetery $25 and Overstreet $73. Both long overdue. Then paid Parks washer repair $13.85 and one gas bill $9.40. Told them the man didn't fix the water heater so didn’t pay that bill. Sent another man out, said it was perfectly safe, just that roar is from too much air because the burner is warped. So we'll just use it and ignore the roar. Also paid insurance. Girls went to the zoo with Kathy while we were in town, they had a good time. Bought Kathy a shorts and blouse set $1.00 for a late birthday present. Bought our girls some under panties, me a flannel back table cloth, sure, like it. Ray saw Earl Lamb, he'll be out Mon. or Tue. to fix the pump. Went to the lot from 3-5, hoed, fertilized and watered everything. Destry had eaten a good bit on the big red hibiscus, will have to put the pen around it again. Pulled some moss, I fell out of a tree, not far. Raked some manure. The plants are coming out from where calves ate them, the fertilizer will help bring them out of it, the little pink one had lots of blooms. Came home and Ray mowed out front, between the fence and road, it sure looks nice. Makes the whole yard look better. I planted some marigolds around the well by that old pipe, will hide it some. We also planted the "Veronica" hibiscus I bought months ago for $1.00, put it under Peggy’s window. Dady stopped by about dark, gave him his change (bought him a M.O). The bulls tore his fence down on the beach, his been working on it. Ray racked a line tonite, I ironed some. Sure was a busy day. Glad to have the water heater fixed, or to know we can safely use it anyway. Girls played in the lake when we came from the lot, caught 2 small turtles, one crawfish for me to use on our nature table in S.S. Hunted may flies tonite, none, just last sleep. Got 3 washer rollers from Parks, no change, 2 from Ray’s Dady.
