Wednesday March 17

Sunny, real warm, little windy. $2.90 fish, $20.00 scale fish. Dady came at supper time and ate a plate of supper. He worries me, says he wakes up crying in the nite, talked a while, I don't know what to say to help him. Went up tonite, took 2 Decision magazines, the booklet “When You Lose a Loved One” Margaret H. gave me. Its such as nice book, hope he reads it. He gave me money to buy his tags. Mr. Scholz is better, Mrs. and grandson are coming down for car etc.

Myrtle’s mother died just a few years prior to 1965.

When Myrtle died, I inherited her box of cards and correspondence accouterments. The box included a number of booklets that could provide comfort in times of grief. She would send these with sympathy cards.

While When You Lose A Loved One was not there, I believe I found it here.

The book, first published in 1959 by Charles L. Allen and Helen Steiner Rice, is described by goodreads:

When You Lose a Loved One presents a hopeful message of resurrection and eternal lifea message Christians have heard so many times before. But in death's aftermath, people often need assurance of what they know is true about life after death. So Charles Allen offers the bereaved a beautifully crafted reminder that the Easter message robs death of its terror and promises a solution to life's mysteries. Intermingled with Allen's prose are the comforting poems of Helen Steiner Rice. With an updated look and new organization, this encouraging book will bring meaning and hope to those who have lost loved ones.
