Sunday Feb. 28
This has been a pretty sunny day, just cool. Peggy and I went to S.S. 9 children in our class. Tricia is still sick, had earache last nite, was up 3 times to fill hot water bottle, gave her aspirin. Ray went to Wares before S.S. to tell them we couldn't go fishing with them in the morning but they want Ray to go with them anyway. They'll go to Lake Marion, instead of Blue Cypress. Asked us to go to the coast with them next Saturday, fish and let the girls wade and pick up shells. Also they asked Ray more about our house. Something must be brewing, Ray told them I worked for Mrs. Bass, she said she'd like to have me work one day every few weeks while they are away. So I'll do that. Mr. Nesbit and Dick and children were out this morning, gave him some plants. Ray and Peggy were away all afternoon, Buddy trimmed Gypsy's feet, she was one of the horses those idiot's stole, she's all right, a little scared after the way she must have been treated. Ray rode her, they curried her also. Borrowed Red’s trailer to bring her "home." Peggy sure had an afternoon, she's worn out completely. Guess we'll just keep Gypsy here, Mr. Howell doesn't want to sell her, and we can't afford to buy her any way so this is just fine. Mr. Herndon is supposed to go in the hospital tomorrow.
Lake Marion covers an area of approximately 2,990 acres in Kenansville, Florida.
Lake Blue Cypress is a 6,500 acre shallow freshwater lake located in Indian River County, Florida. It’s the origin of the St. John’s River, which passes through Sanford, Florida where I live today.
