Sun. Jan. 17

Brrr! It was cold last nite 30° this morning with that awful wind, still 30° at 9AM. We went to S.S., had 6 children and a cold room. Mrs. Smith got our heater working when it was almost time to go. I went to Dadys after dinner, had to wash a load of clothes. Took his car back. Put all my pot plants and those in cans in the house. Covered and wrapped those in the yard. Girls watched ‘Wizard of Oz’ tonite. Then we saw the last half of ‘Exodus.’ Sure is cold tonite.

The film Exodus, released in 1960, centers around the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, and follows the efforts of Jewish refugees to establish a new home in Palestine. Starring Paul Newman and Eva Marie Saint, Exodus was a box office success.

The Wizard of Oz, stararing Judy Garland, was released in 1939.
