Sunday March 7

Pretty Boy died last nite. Just as we started to bed about 11, Ray noticed he was laying on the bottom of his cage. I picked him up, we held him, he died at 11:45. Sure feel sad to lose him. We didn't tell the girls till we came home this afternoon. Ray told them, I helped them bury him, in a shoe box. Caylors picked us at 8 o’clock. Went to Wares cottage at the Crow’s Nest, Sebastion was windy, cold but we had a nice day. People were surfing and sunbathing, but it was cold. The girls picked up lots of shells, Ray and I helped for a while, the men fished, drove around also, over the new bridge, etc. Had nice lunch, rode back with Wares. Missy sure gave us a welcome. Peggy and Tricia are sure crying and sad over Pretty Boy. Guess we had better get them another one.

Pretty Boy

Pretty Boy was the family’s pet parakeet (budgie).

Missy

Missy was the the family’s cockapoo. She gave birth to one puppy, which the family named Chopper. Missy gave birth under the porch and was not kind to her newborn. Ray had to pull up the porch to rescue him. When Chopper needed to eat, Ray would lay down next to Missy and hold her down. She’d snarl and growl while Chopper ate and then they’d take the puppy away again to keep him safe.

Sebastian

According to the Sebastian Inlet District, the bridge that crosses over the Sebastian Inlet was opened connecting A1A from Brevard to Indian River County on February 27, 1965.  In return for helping complete the bridge and pave A1A on the south side, Brevard County ceded almost 3 miles of land south of the inlet to Indian River County. Two military aircraft participated in a fly-over during the official opening ceremony.
